Victorian Goalball Association

Thank you for choosing to become a member of the Victorian Goalball Association (VGA). This page contains important information that you should read before continuing.

1. Membership Benefits

All memberships include insurance, one (1) vote at VGA’s Annual General Meeting and access to VGA programs and activities.

Each membership type may have additional benefits, as outlined on VGA’s website.

1.1 Australian Goalball Championships Eligibility

Certain membership types are also eligible to apply to represent Victoria at the Australian Goalball Championships. To be eligible to apply to represent Victoria within the current year, you must, within the same year:

  • Hold an eligible membership type, as defined in 1.1.1, and
  • Attend 50% of court sessions organised by VGA, excluding Team Victoria training, and
  • Meet the attendance requirement for Team Victoria training for your division, and
  • Be in good standing with VGA.

The attendance requirement for Team Victoria training is defined as:

  • 50% for Junior division
  • 75% for all other divisions

Eligibility to represent Victoria at the Australian Goalball Championships is subject to selection by the relevant squad's head coach. Even if you are eligible to apply, you are not guaranteed to be selected.

The Board of VGA may, at its own discretion, grant exemptions to some or all of the eligibility criteria on a case-by-case basis if it believes that a member's unique circumstances justify such exemptions.

1.1.1 Eligible Membership Types

The following membership types are eligible to represent Victoria at the Australian Goalball Championships, subject to these terms:

  • Junior Player
  • First Time Senior Player - Adult/Youth
  • Returning Senior Player Full Membership - Adult/Youth

2. Requirements

In order for you to maintain the benefits of your membership, you will need to have completed the registration form and:

  • Have paid all relevant membership fees in full, or
  • Have an agreement in place with VGA, in accordance with 3.1 and have paid all fees due at the time of participating.

3. General Conditions

All memberships start from the date that they are accepted by VGA and last until the end of same calendar year. For the avoidance of doubt, memberships will not roll over to the following calendar year.

Some membership types have an associated fee that will be invoiced to you on completion of your membership application. Membership fees must be paid by the due date indicated on the invoice in order for you to maintain the benefits of your membership. Membership fees are not refundable.

3.1 Exemptions

If you are experiencing financial hardship, you may be eligible to receive a payment plan or discounted membership fee, subject to the terms of VGA's Financial Hardship Policy. If you believe you are eligible, you may apply to the VGA Board at info@goalball.org.au or to the VGA President directly at feedback@goalball.org.au

The Board of VGA may, at its own discretion, refund or discount membership fees, or extend the duration of a membership on a case-by-case basis if it believes that a member's unique circumstances justify such an action. For the purposes of illustration, such circumstances might include, but are not limited to:

  • Injury or other personal circumstances, resulting in the member not being able to take advantage of most or all of the benefits of their membership for most or all of the duration of the membership.
  • An honest mistake made by a member in completing their membership form.
  • An administrative error made by VGA.
