Australian Goalball Championships 2026

The Victorian Goalball Association (VGA) is now seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from coaches who would like to be part of Team Victoria at the 2026 Australian Goalball Championships (AGCs).

The Australian Goalball Championships will be held in Melbourne from 1–4 October 2026 and bring together the country's best Goalball athletes to compete across multiple divisions.

We are looking for passionate, committed coaches who are eager to support the development of Victorian athletes and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.

Coaching Positions Available

Expressions of Interest are being sought for the following divisions:

• Men's Team
• Women's Team
• Youth Team 
• Junior Team 

Within each division, we are seeking:

• Head Coach
• Assistant Coach

Applicants are welcome to express interest in one or more coaching positions and divisions.

Please note: Successful applicants may be appointed to a maximum of two (2) teams. This ensures each team receives the time, support, and leadership required throughout the preparation period and during the Australian Goalball Championships.

Position Overview

Team Victoria coaches play an important role in preparing athletes for competition while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and professional team culture.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering Team Victoria training sessions.
• Supporting athlete development and performance.
• Working collaboratively with assistant coaches, team managers, and support staff.
• Providing coaching and tactical direction throughout the Australian Goalball Championships.
• Attending team meetings and contributing to athlete welfare and team culture.
• Upholding the values, policies, and Code of Conduct of the Victorian Goalball Association.

Volunteer Position

These coaching positions are volunteer roles.

To support our coaching team, the Victorian Goalball Association will consider but not guareenteed to cover the cost of the successful applicants' Goalball Australia Coaching Registration.

Further information regarding training schedules, accommodation, event logistics, and team expectations will be provided following the appointment process.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for a Team Victoria coaching position, applicants must:

• Be available to attend Team Victoria training sessions leading into the Australian Goalball Championships.
• Be available for the full duration of the Australian Goalball Championships (1–4 October 2026).
• Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC), or be willing to obtain one before commencing the role.
• Register as a Volunteer with the Victorian Goalball Association prior to appointment.
• Demonstrate a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all athletes.

Desired Skills and Experience

Previous Goalball coaching experience is highly regarded; however, we encourage applications from coaches with a range of experience levels.

The selection panel will consider applicants who demonstrate:

• A positive, athlete-centred coaching philosophy.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a coaching team.
• Knowledge of Goalball through playing, coaching, officiating, or volunteering.
• A commitment to athlete development and continuous learning.
• Reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to support Team Victoria both on and off the court.

Coaching Appointments

Applicants may nominate for multiple divisions and coaching roles. During the appointment process, the Victorian Goalball Association will consider:

• Coaching experience
• Preferred divisions
• Team requirements
• Coach availability
• Team balance and overall coaching structure

While applicants may express interest in multiple positions, no coach will be appointed to more than two (2) teams.

Please note that submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee appointment to a Team Victoria coaching position.

Appointments will be made by the Victorian Goalball Association based on the needs of each team and the suitability of applicants to fulfil the role.
