Future Me – Blind Sports & Career Exploration Day

Join us for Future Me, an interactive community event designed to introduce children and young people to blind sports, skill development, and future opportunities through lived experience and mentorship.

This event focuses on career exploration, confidence building, and learning transferable skills that support participants both now and into the future. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience a range of adaptive sports while connecting with mentors from different backgrounds and pathways.

Location: Victorian Australia – Kooyong Office

What to Expect

Participants will have the chance to:

• Try interactive Goalball skill activities
• Experience Blind Tennis and SWISH
• Learn about other blind and low vision sports opportunities
• Build confidence through participation and teamwork
• Meet mentors with lived experience across sport, education, and career pathways

Volunteer Opportunities

VGA is currently seeking volunteers to support the event by:

• Engaging with potential new members and families
• Assisting with interactive Goalball activities
• Helping facilitate simple skill-based games and demonstrations
• Sharing information about Goalball and VGA programs
• Supporting a welcoming and inclusive environment throughout the day

No previous coaching or volunteer experience is required. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in community engagement, coaching development, or helping grow Goalball within Victoria.

Mentor Opportunities

We are also seeking community members with lived experience who are interested in:

• Sharing their personal journeys
• Discussing sport, education, and career pathways
• Acting as positive role models for children, young people, and families

This event is a wonderful opportunity to connect sport, community, and future opportunities while helping introduce new participants to inclusive sport in a supportive environment.
